In 2011, the Delta Phi Chapter of Tri Kappa introduced our Impact Grant, a $10,000 grant to a nonprofit organization in our community. We were hoping to fund a project that would reach a broad segment of our community with needed services that weren’t already provided; provide “seed money” for innovative community programs; enhance or improve institutional or organizational self-sufficiency; and act as a catalyst for action and community participation. We encouraged requests for projects that would benefit the needs of women and/or children in Muncie and Delaware County.
We were thrilled to award our first Impact Grant to Open Door Health Services. They used the grant funding to create the Tri Kappa Family Resource Room.
In 2013, we awarded another Impact Grant to co-recipients Christian Ministries and A Better Way. Together, and with additional funding from Psi Iota Xi, they purchased a truck that they can share to pick up donations and help residents move from temporary shelter housing into their permanent homes.
In 2015, we helped to fund renovations at Muncie Children’s Museum, including a new exhibit to promote STEM learning.
The 2017 Impact Grant was awarded to Muncie Civic Theatre to help with renovation of their costume shop.
In 2019, Tri Kappa awarded the Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) with an impact grant.
In 2020, Tri Kappa awarded Urban Light CDC an impact grant to help with a housing renovation project in south central Muncie.
